Hackneyed is an adjective that is used to describe that which is lacking in freshness or originality. Overused. Banal.

Examples:

  1. Your art can never be ‘hackneyed’. specifically speaking, if you add your own unique essence to it.
  2. Those that pioneer are ones that are aware of the world around them, without becoming ‘hackneyed’ in following the trends of the world.
  3. In her early years, she thought that she had to copy what other successful individuals were doing in order for her to have success. However through her journey, she soon came to learn that being ‘hackneyed’ never allows for you to showcase YOUR talent to the world.
